Distal epiphyseal fracture affects the end of the long bone (e.g. radius, tibia), close to the joint. It is common in copies and teens, but also Adults in a traumatic context.
Symptom: Acute pain, rapid inflation, functional limitation and, in some cases, visible deformation. It is diagnosed by X-ray or, if needed, CT.
Treatment: In simple forms, it applies cast immobilization. In complicated cases orthopedic reduction or surgical fixation to prevent bone growth or joint damage.
