Orthopedics > Conditions treated > Congenital hip dislocation (dysplasia)
Congenital hip dislocation or dysplasia is a condition present from birth in which the hip joint does not develop normally. The femoral head is not well centered in the acetabular cavity, leading to instability.
Symptom: Detectable from the first months of life by articular click, inequality of membership and, later, limping.
Treatment: It is based on early diagnosis (ultrasound screening), followed by ortezare (e.g. Pavlik harness) or, in more advanced cases, orthopaedic or surgical reduction of dislocation.
