Deformities of the fifth finger (Quintus varus)

Deformities of the fifth finger, also known as Quintus varusis an inward (varus) deviation of the little toe. The condition is common and often occurs bilaterally, affecting both feet.

Causes: Among the enabling factors are narrow shoes, genetic inheritance, plantar static abnormalities and developmental changes in the leg bones.

Symptom: The little finger is deviated medially, excessively close to the fourth finger. Occurs frequently pain when wearing shoes, callusing in the protruding area and difficulty with walking or activities of daily living.

Treatment: In mild forms, you can use comfortable footwear, digital orthotics or protective cushions. In moderate or severe cases, it is recommended surgery for realigning the toe and removing the area of conflict with the shoes.
