Anterior and posterior ankle impingement refers to mechanical conflicts between the soft or bony parts of the joint caused by repetitive trauma or microtrauma. Common in athletes.
Symptom: Pain with extreme movements (flexion or extension), functional limitation and swelling local.
Treatment: Includes physiotherapy, infiltrations and, in persistent cases, arthroscopy to remove involved tissues or osteophytes.
