Ankle fracture involves one or more bones around the ankle joint (tibia, fibula, talus). It occurs through violent twisting, fall or sports accident.
Symptom: Pain, rapid edema, inability to support and possible deformation.
Treatment: Stable fractures - immobilization. Unstable fractures - surgical osteosynthesis. Recovery aims to gradually resume walking.
