Acromio-clavicular dislocations appear by direct falls on the shoulder and involves separation of the joint between the clavicle and acromion. Common in athletes (cycling, contact sports).
Symptom: Visible swelling ("stepped collarbone"), pain, limiting mobility and sensitivity to palpation.
Treatment: Conservative in mild forms (bandaging, physiotherapy). In severe cases (type III-VI) - surgical reconstruction of the coraco-clavicular ligaments.
