Proximal 1/3 humerus fractures are especially common in older people, following a falls on the shoulder. They can also be the consequence of high-intensity trauma in young people.
Symptom: Severe pain in the shoulder, swell, severely limited mobility and sometimes, echimoze local. Diagnosis is made by X-ray shoulder.
Treatment: Unhealed fractures can be treated conservatively (immobilization) and unstable fractures by osteosynthesis or partial shoulder prosthesis. Functional recovery is essential.
