Patient advice

For most investigations (EKG, cardiac ultrasound, stress test), no special training required. However, for transesophageal ultrasound, it is important to do not consume food or drink at least 6 hours beforehandFor the exercise test, wear light clothing and sports shoes.

If you are about to perform a Holter EKG monitoring or 24h blood pressure, it is recommended to keep a detailed log: make a note of mealtimes, medication, times of sleep, exertion or any symptoms (palpitations, dizziness, etc.) that occurred during the day. This information helps your doctor to match the activity of your heart with what you have been feeling.

Symptoms such as dizziness, loss of consciousness, chest pain or palpitations should not be ignored, even if they disappear quickly. They may be signs of heart conditions that require specific investigations, such as a tilt-table test (TILT), Holter EKG or Doppler ultrasound.
