Orthopedics> Conditions treated > Vicious calluses (vicious healed fractures)
Vicious calluses occur when a fractured bone heals in an incorrect position, resulting in deformity, shortening of the bone segment or impaired function of the limb.
Symptoms may include pain, difficulty mobilizing, visible changes in the shape of the limb, or gait disturbance. Complications may also occur, such as instability or secondary arthrosis.
Treatment is generally surgical and involves corrective osteotomy and internal fixing, to restore alignment and functionality of the limb.
